AVSECO sets up Contingency Response Unit

To support the development of Hong Kong International Airport, Aviation Security Company Limited (AVSECO) has established a Contingency Response Unit (CRU) which has commenced service since 1 April 2020.

The aim of establishing the CRU is to provide prompt on-site response to incidents or when there are needs of assistance at the airport.

The Unit also performs patrol duties in the terminals and other areas of the airport. It assists the AA and other business partners in matters such as response to incidents and crowd management if needed, in order to ensure a smooth airport operation.

CRU is formed by full-time staff of AVSECO. All CRU members have received training on crowd management, crisis management and emergency response, among others. Such training takes place on a regular basis for CRU members where they would participate in different drills in the airport in order to strengthen the cooperation with the airport community in handling emergency situations.
