To strengthen the capability of the frontline divisions in particular Contingency Response Unit (CRU) and enhance their interoperability with the Airport Authority (AA) and Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) in responding to contingency situations,  a joint exercise ‘HURRICANE’ was conducted on 15^th September 2023 at T1 Midfield Concourse with 38 Police officers inclusive of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau and Airport Security Unit, more than 100 CRU members, 4 AVSECO Canine Unit (ACU) Canine Handlers and canines as well as staff of frontline divisions participating. 

Serious cases of handling public event, discovery of explosive items and hostage taking situation are the themes in this exercise.
